Info about transportation to the Venue Don Chan Palace hotel and other facilities

From the Wattay International airport to the hotel (the Venue), it takes 10 mn by taxi. The taxi rate should be around 8 $ max. This is well organized Taxi at the airport.  You can also choose Airport Shuttle bus going to Talaad Sao (Morning market) not far from Don Chan Palace. From there take Tuk Tuk for 5 mn. The fees shall be around  50 THB or around 2 $.

If you fly to Udon airport (Thailand), then you go to the Bus Terminal next to the Mall  Robinson. At the Mall, there is Van service directly from Robinson to the Thailand-Laos Border in Nongkhai province. The fees for van is 50 THB or less then 2 $.

From Robinson- Lao border, it takes 60 mn max.

Then, cross the bridge which is International border by special arranged bus. The bus fees shall be: 20 THB or around 0,80 $.  Visa upon arrival is available for all. For those ASEAN Nationals- no visa.

From the Laos Check point, you can take public bus with aircon. The bus fees shall cost less then 1 $ to Talaad Sao (Morning market) not far from Don Chan Palace. From there take Tuk Tuk for 5 mn. The fees shall be around  50THB or around 2 $.

The weather in Vientiane by December, should be a nice, not hot, nor warm. It is a high season for tourism.  You need warm jacket for morning and evening time.

Lao Food, European, Asian, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Halal food for Muslim available not far from the Venue.  The Night Market for souvenir shop, street eating, bars…not far from the venue.There is a Mosque near by the Venue, and Halal food is available as well.

Hospital or International clinic, drug store, in case of need, is available and opposite to the Venue, just 5 mn walk.

Banks, Exchange offices,ATM are available in town.  To pay in cash in USD- not recommended, but THB is more favorable. Much better to use local currency Lao Kip (LAK). Exchange rate is stable: 1 USD is around 8,000 Kips.
